Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world. Tanzania's economy is also very poor. Nearly almost all of their economy is based on agriculture. Most of the workers are uneducated which makes it hard for them to do a lot of jobs. Government corruption is widespread, particularly on the local level. The roads are bad, and the water is not very clean. Tanzania suffers from a crashing debt burden. Over the past 25 years Tanzania has borrowed nearly 7 billion dollars from foreign sources. In order to repay this debt it consumes 40%of the countries annual expenditures. Part of the reason that they're economy suffers is because of the droughts that they currently experience. This makes it very hard to grow good crops all year round. They have some natural resources which include, hydroelectric potential, coal, iron, gemstones, gold, natural gas, nickel, diamonds, crude oil potential, forest products, and fisheries. Their agriculture products include coffee, cotton, tea, tobacco, cloves, sisal, cashew nuts, maize, livestock, sugarcane, paddy, wheat, and pyrethrum. Their industry and manufacturing includes light manufacturing, textiles, construction, steel, aluminum, paints, cement, cooking oil, beer, mineral water and soft drinks. Their primary imports are petroleum, consumer goods, machinery and transport equipment, used clothing, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.
